The idea

There's been a few things that I've been wanting to do, but for whatever reason - work, marriage, laziness, you name it - I've always put them off and let them sit at the back of my mind.
So, today I was watching a TED talk by Matt Cutts, an engineer at Google. He had a simple message.
Try something new for 30 days. Just 30 days.
It could be trying to write a novel, or cycling to work, or changing your diet. Anything.
30 days is not such a long time. In fact it passes awfully fast for me these days. One reason, I think, is that I'm living a lot of my life as a routine. And this just makes thing, well, not very interesting.
So, I'm going to begin to make a change.
Starting yesterday, I'm going to run at least 5km every day for 30 days.
Running is something I already do, but not really that seriously. And I've always wondered what it would be like to put my body through such a challenge.
So that's the beginning.
It's early days yet, but I've also got some more ideas of future challenges:

Take a photo a day
Talk to somebody new each day
Write a short story every day
Get better at Japanese
Stop eating sweets and chocolates and unhealthy snacks
Draw a picture a day
Sing a song a day
Learn an instrument to play

Those are some of the ideas so far, but the more I think of this, the more excited I am.
Wish me luck, and let me know if you also decide to take the challenge.
